WC Cleaner

Toilet cleaning probably won’t be one of your favourite activities. However, we have a tip for you on how to make this activity fun and creative with your children.

You don’t have to use aggressive chemical detergents to have a clean toilet. You can sanitise it with the right combination of natural ingredients which will also cause such a reaction that it will save you even the tedious scrubbing of limescale.

If you are creative and want to include your children in the cleaning process, this guide is right for you!

To make it fun for the children I recommend getting fun silicone moulds, ideally in the shape of an animal. Why don’t you throw a dolphin into the toilet to clean it for you?

However, a cube or a ball will do the same job for you as well. ?

What you will need:

  • Silicone moulds
  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • ¼ cup of citric acid
  • 1 teaspoon of dishwashing detergent

We will make WC bombs:

Take all ingredients and mix them, then fill the silicone mould with the mixture. Push the mixture into the mould properly and leave it to dry for about 5 hours. Tip it out of the mould carefully and store in a closed glass jar.

All you need to do is to throw the bomb into the toilet and leave it for about 30 minutes. That will loosen the limescale and all you need to do after is to lightly clean the toilet with a toilet brush. It is an easy way to sanitize a toilet bowl.

Try it!

GS tip: When making it, it was more convenient to squish the bomb in our hands and then process it into a ball. The mixture foamed up a lot and needed to be kneaded during solidification/drying. Once mixed and lightly dried, the mixture could be easily formed into a ball by hand – I would recommend using it right after making and not storing it for too long so it doesn’t crumble.
