Lavender 🌿💜 – a classic that never disappoints! At the end of the summer ☀️, you can prepare a supply that will bring you peace and tranquillity in winter thanks to its soothing scent. What’s more, lavender is ideal for making a homemade oil or natural cream that smells great and can help with relaxation and skincare. This year, my garden 🌱 has produced an abundance of lavender, so I decided to try my hand at making lavender oil and then using it to make lavender cream.
Try it too – the process is simple and the result is worth it!
🧪 Ingredients for making lavender oil:
- 300 ml almond oil (or adjust the amount so that the lavender flowers are completely submerged in it)
- Dried lavender flowers
- Glass, plastic or aluminium container (50-100ml)
✨ Instructions for making the lavender oil:
You can make the lavender oil through a hot or a cold process. I tried the first option. However, if you would like to try the cold process, simply put the dried lavender flowers into a resealable jar and pour in a quality oil (almond, apricot, hemp, etc.) and let it macerate in a dark place, shaking it twice a week.
The hot making process is through a water bath. To make a water bath, take a larger pot which you fill with water and put a smaller bowl in it. Fill the smaller bowl with the dried lavender flowers and pour in the almond oil so that the flowers are completely submerged. Heat up the mixture on low temperature and keep the heat up for 2 hours. Careful, the water bath must not boil! Then set the mixture aside, let it cool down and refrigerate for 24 hours. Repeat the process the next day and strain the oil through a clean cloth into prepared containers after it cools down. The lavender oil is done – all you need to do now is to keep it in the fridge so it lasts as long as possible. In winter, you can use it any time for a luxurious lavender cream, which soothes the skin, moisturises and lifts up your spirit thanks to its smell.

🧪 Ingredients for making the lavender cream:
- 100 ml lavender oil
- 200 ml shea butter
- You can also add beeswax (e.g. its vegetable variant – almond or candelilla oil) and a few drops of lavender essential oil as an optional ingredient.
✨ How to make lavender cream:
- Make the amount according to you
Determine how much cream you want to make and adjust the amount of oil and shea butter accordingly. If you prefer a thicker or lighter texture, adjust the amount to your preference. - Melt the butter and oil in the water bath
Pour the prepared oil into a smaller container and add the shea butter. Place it in a water bath on a medium heat to gradually melt the butter. Stir the mixture occasionally to make sure everything is evenly. - Remove from heat and let it cool down
When the butter has completely melted, remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. - Add the fragrance
This is where the lavender magic comes in! Add a few drops of lavender essential oil – adjust the amount accordingly to how strong you’d like the scent. - Whip until a cream consistency
Whip the mixture with a hand mixer, so it gets fluffy and creamy consistency. If it’s still too liquid, put it in a fridge for a while, but watch out for it not to solidify too much. Then whip again. - Fill the containers and keep refrigerated
Pour the finished cream into clean containers and put them in the fridge, where it will stay fresh for a long time.

GG-tip: The cream is ideal for nighttime, as it is slightly oilier and softens the skin perfectly. Thanks to how gentle it is you can use it around the eyes as well as on sensitive skin – verified!
