🧪 Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel
- 5-10 drops of tea tree oil (tea tree essential oil)
💡 Optional
- 1 teaspoon of grapeseed or coconut oil (for extra hydration)
✨ How to do it
- Preparing the mixture: Mix the aloe vera gel with the tea tree oil in a medium sized bowl. Add the tea tree oil gradually – start with 5 drops and add more as needed, up to 10 drops.
- Add coconut oil: If you have dry skin or want to add extra moisturizing properties, you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil. Coconut oil will soften the mixture, however, if you have oily skin, you can skip this step.
- Storage: Put the finished cream in a small, resealable container and store it in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a month.
If buying aloe vera gel (approx. 100 ml for 4 €) doesn’t seem like the right choice, why not grow your own aloe and always have it on hand?😊 Aloe vera gel can also be used in other cosmetic products, e.g. a mask for problematic skin. You can also try our other recipe for an aloe vera-free cream – link to “A problematic skin? – Make your own acne treatment cream“.
🔧 Use:
Apply a small amount of the cream to the affected areas after cleansing your skin, in the morning and evening. This cream is suitable for daily use thanks to the aloe vera which soothes, regenerates and hydrates the skin, while the tea tree oil fights bacteria and reduces inflammation.
GG tip: If you are applying the cream on the entire face, always apply it to damp skin. Just take a little cream in the palm of your hand or on your finger and add a few drops of water or a toner. You can also apply the toner or water to your face then apply the cream immediately massage it in the skin. Sometimes it’s difficult to estimate the right amount, so start with a really small amount at first. If your skin is uncomfortably oily even after a few minutes, gently wipe off the excess and use less next time.
✨ Benefits:
- Aloe vera: Known for its healing properties, it soothes irritation and redness, moisturizes without leaving a greasy layer.
- Tea tree oil: It is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, making it ideal for problematic skin.
- Coconut oil: When added, provides deep hydration and helps with the healing of minor scars.
🌿 When to use the cream?
This cream is especially suitable for people with oily, problematic or acne-prone skin. Aloe vera soothes and treats minor breakouts, while tea tree oil helps fight acne.
🚫 When is the cream not suitable?
If you have very dry skin, skip tea tree oil or use only a small amount as it can make your skin drier. The cream should also not be used by people with allergies to any of the ingredients.
💜 Tip for sensitive and red skin:
If you have sensitive or red skin, you can add a few drops of lavender essential oil to the cream. Lavender has soothing properties and helps reduce redness.
⏰ How often to use:
Morning and evening – but watch out for the tea tree oil. If you have extremely sensitive skin, start with applying it only once a day.
You can also use all the ingredients listed in other recipes such as make-up remover, all-purpose cream or toothpaste.
